SenseKnee: Wearable Sensor-based Analysis Framework for Rehabilitation Monitoring Following Total Knee Arthroplasty

Funded by: TÜSEB (Group B)
Duration: May 2023 – May 2025 (24 months)
Role: Principal Investigator

Total knee arthroplasty is a commonly used treatment method in surgical treatment of advanced degenerative joint disease. Monitoring these patients with frequent controls is of great importance for preventing the oversight of potential early-period complications. A sensor system which achieves continuous, quantitative, and objective transfer of physical examination findings can thus allow for a more frequent control of recovery and rehabilitation phases, without requiring the patients to come to the health institution. In SenseKnee project, a smart and novel system will be developed for achieving continuous follow-up monitoring of recovery and rehabilitation following total knee arthroplasty.

Multi-modal Wearable System Development for Vital Sign Monitoring

Funded by: Koç University Seed Fund
Duration:
  July 2023 – July 2024 (12 months)
Role: Researcher (PI: Asst. Prof. Remziye Semerci)

Effective monitoring and assessment of vital signs play a crucial role in ensuring optimal patient outcomes and timely intervention in nursing care. These vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, fever, and respiratory rate, provide essential information regarding a patient’s overall health status and enable healthcare professionals to detect potential complications or changes in a patient’s condition. We will be developing a wearable system and corresponding analysis algorithms for assessing the aforementioned vital parameters.

PhysioPatch: A Wearable Device for Non-Invasive and Continuous Cardiovascular and Cardiopulmonary Monitoring

Funded by: TUBITAK 3501 (Career Award)
Duration: September 2021 – September 2023 (24 months)
Role: Principal Investigator

There is a compelling need for novel modalities to achieve non-invasive and continuous health monitoring outside the physical confines of the clinic. With PhysioPatch project, a wearable patch will be designed to enable comprehensive cardiovascular and cardiopulmonary monitoring through simultaneously acquiring various physiological signals, such as electrocardiogram, seismocardiogram, photoplethysmogram and body temperature.
